Best Apple & Pumpkin Picking In Connecticut: The Ultimate Guide To CT's BEST Fall Farms

The Best Fall Farms in Connecticut

Why We're #FALLINGForThe203...

While we are all about a Connecticut Summer, there is something truly special about Fall in New England. As the crisp autumn air begins to make the leaves dance, New Englanders gravitate towards the countryside for a much-needed change of scenery. Friends gather around backyard fire pits to roast S’mores-- and apple cider donuts become a go-to guilty pleasure.

The smell of pumpkin spice is in the air (or your coffee mug, at least), the anticipation of Halloween starts to set in and everyone seems content with turning in their bathing suits & flip flops for flannel shirts & bean-boots (as long as it means you'll get an afternoon of apple picking)!

Connecticut shows some of it's best colors in the autumn months. We want to help you take advantage of this incredible season because one thing we know for sure is that it will be over before you know it. This year, we’re rounding up ALL of our favorite Fall traditions and activities to create an entire series of blog posts to help YOU celebrate Fall in Connecticut!

THE BEST CT FARMS TO VISIT THIS THE FALL...

Apple picking, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, hay rides.. you get the gist! There are SO many fantastic local farms to celebrate in CT. We’ve rounded up a list of OUR favorite CT Farms to visit in the Fall months, because we have a sneaking idea that some of you miiiight be looking for a good pumpkin patch (or 2) over the next few weeks!

Guide To Apple Picking and Pumpkin Picking in Connecticut

Bunnell Farm, Litchfield: Bunnell Farm will give you ALLLL the Fall feels! Take a free hay ride to pick your own pumpkin on from their picturesque pumpkin patch! Don't leave without checking out their legendary corn maze. *We love that Bunnell Farm is off the beaten path because the winding back roads are so gorgeous during the Fall months!

Roger’s Orchards, Southington: With EIGHT generations of family fruit growing , it's really no surprise that Roger's Orchards has the best damn apples around! Pick your own, or grab a bag at the shop… either way, do NOT miss their apple cider! @rogersorchards

Bishop’s Orchards, Guildford: Hmmmm where do we even start?! If you're looking for a creamery, winery, bakery, farm stand AND pick your own pumpkins all in ONE place.... look NO further. We love that Bishop's has amazing customer service and the highest quality fresh food. ** As of March 16th, there will be no more wine tastings until further notice, due to COVID19. Wine sales are still available

Castle Hill Farm, Newtown, CT: This corn maze was THE most suggested by our followers— and for GOOD reason! The Castle Hill Corn Maze is a long standing Connecticut Fall tradition. The maze spans SEVEN miles and each year they create a complexly new maze. We went for the corn maze, but we were blown away by their selection of pumpkins-- Over 40 varieties! This farm is a must visit!

Warrup's Farm, Redding: If you're looking to ACTUALLY PICK your pumpkin right off the vine.. this is the destination for you!

Jones Family Farm, Shelton CT: This family-run farm is a “one-stop shop” for all things FALL. Let the kids get lost in the corn maze, or pick the perfect pumpkin, while you sip wine from their vineyard. They also offer a fun hay ride around the farm. This farm checks all of the boxes, and is great for families! (PLUS we love the view)

Silverman’s Farm, Easton CT: We grew up on Silverman’s cider (and we still can’t drive by Silverman’s without stopping for an apple cider sippy cup)! If you choose Silverman's for your pumpkin picking needs… Test your luck at scoring one for FREE! All you have to do is guess it's weight within 2 oz :)

Lyman Orchards, MIddlefield : How about themmm apples! Head to Lyman's to pick your own apples before the season is over! This gorgeous farm also offers PYO pumpkins and the most delicious farm market that will have you falling in love with Fall in CT! Pro Tip: Don’t miss their hard apple cider!

Blue Jay Orchards, Bethel: For us, a trip to Blue Jay's is allllll about the PIES and apple cider donuts!!

*If you have another CT Farm suggestion that isn’t on our list-- let us know on instagram so we can check it out and add it to our list of go-to’s!
